Tylicka mofeta is one of the largest facilities of this type in Europe. It is located in the tourist settlement "Domki w Lasie". It was opened to visitors in October 2011. Mofeta is a cool volcanic fume from which carbon dioxide is extracted. In addition, gas is extracted here in the water, causing bubbles. Mofety in Tylicz were surrounded by 11 circles that are connected to each other. Each of them has a diameter and depth of about one meter. Mofeta have a very large number of bubbling and snuffers - around 50. An interesting fact is that the taste of mineral water from each circle is different. In fact, it was one of the biggest secrets of the Polish People's Republic - research was conducted there to create condensed food for astronauts from the Soviet Union. Scholars saw hope in freshwater algae, which in Tylicz's mofet had excellent conditions for development. Carbon dioxide accelerates the development of algae. In this way a secret algae research center was located here operating under the official banner of an agricultural center. Finally, after many years of testing, it was found that the algae are not well absorbed by the human body and their production was discontinued. The official version said that the algae did not turn out to be a sensational feed. The communist authorities ordered to cover concrete circles.
